Since launching early 2010 the ‘South Side Show’ has quickly become Melbourne’s undisputed weekly home of vaudeville, circus and cabaret.

On stage, dance floor or hanging from the ceiling, every Saturday night this lush art deco inspired venue comes to life with the crème of local and international guest performers alongside a rambunctious crowd comprised of circus kids, carney folk and vaudevillians.

With a reputation as a world class cocktail bar as well as one of the city’s most alternative club nights, the South Side Show parties till the wee hours each Saturday to the sounds of soul, funk, jazz, hiphop and cabaret show tunes served up DJs Mike Gurrieri, Knave Knixx & Edd Fisher.

TAKAYUKI SEKI

Despite his relatively young age, Takayuki is a veteran of the entertainment industry in Japan, having performed as a stuntman for over a decade in films and on TV. His most impressive credit is as a stuntman in the legendary film Zatoichi, directed by Takeshi Kitano, which won the prestigious Silver Lion award at the Venice Film Festival. He also performed in a live show at Universal Studios Japan.  Since enrolling in the Bachelor of Circus Arts at NICA,  Taka specialises in Meteors, Comedy Acrobatics and Hoop Diving. After graduating he would like to perform a full-scale Ninja Show with his family in Australia.

IKKO & JING

Ikuko is a qualified Yoga Instractor in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, studying in the USA, Japan and India. While she was working for Club Med, she studied  Flying Trapeze and performed this in the Flying Trapeze show.  She is currently studying at NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts) practicing Aerial Tissu, Manipulation Cube and group juggling. Her background is Hip-hop, Jazz Dance and Music performance. She has recently performed in the Melbourne Fringe festival 2010.

Jing-Yun Wong is a Melbourne-based performer specialising in silks, handstands, adagio, dance (breaking/hip hop) and martial arts. Jing has a strong background in artistic gymnastics, Chinese martial arts, dancing, circus, rockclimbing and swimming. She has trained full time at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) and has performed in different states around Australia. 

KELLY ANN DOLL & ADAM JACOBS

Newly crowned 1st Runner Up for the Miss Burlesque Australia Grand final is back for her last Southside installment before the doll heads off to launch her solo tour around Australia, Asia and Europe!.Kelly Doll has been performing for red bennies since the opening night , and is arguably Australia's best in fusion burlesque, with her cheeky smile, impeccable aerial skills, lightning fast fast foot work and of course the art of tease.. a combination of talent that will leave you breathless. Teamed with dancer and aerial partner Adam Jacobs (burlesque royale at crown casino see the clip here) . Latin, Circus, Burlesque sexty bodies and things that could hurt... sounds like It sure to be a match in Southside heaven!

Mike Gurrieri brings his swingin' genre-bending DJ antics to Red Bennies every Saturday night from midnight. Expect to go everywhere from swing jazz, funk, soul, hip hop & everything else in-between. A true party set like no other!

Edd Fisher is a music collector, selector, appreciator, producer & radio presenter.

Not your average disc jockey, Edd is a graduate of Australia's premier music school WAAPA with a bachelor in Jazz Composition, presents a radio show (Tomorrow Land) fortnightly on PBS106.7FM and is one of Beat TV’s latest presenters and interviewers!

A regular DJ in the Melbourne scene, Edd’s sets span a mixed bag of Rare-Groove, Funk, Soul, Future Beats, Disco, Hop Hop & Jazz. A fine selector across broad genres Edd's sound is a seamless blend of old and new creating a distinct and modern take on the dance floor.

Imaan Hadchiti, Australia’s biggest smallest comedian presents the South Side Show.

Imaan has performed at Melbourne Comedy Circuit for just over 5 years touring all around Australia and the UK. He boasts a different perspective for stand up comedy being of a short-stature, he uses his point of difference to point out the absurdity of societies reactions to “midgets” he also touches on topics of religion and the lack of common sense in the world with a nice blend of personal travel stories.
