South Side Show

Since launching early 2010 the ‘South Side Show’ has quickly become Melbourne’s undisputed weekly home of Vaudeville, Circus and Cabaret.

On stage, on the dance floor or hanging from the ceiling, every Saturday night this lush art deco inspired venue comes to life with the crème de la crème of local and international guest performers, alongside a rambunctious crowd comprised of circus kids, carney folk and vaudevillians.

With a reputation as a world class cocktail bar as well as one of the city’s most alternative club nights, the South Side Show parties till the wee hours each Saturday to the sounds of soul, funk, jazz, hiphop and cabaret show tunes served up by DJs Mike Gurrieri & Knave Knixx.

STARRING

ASHER TRELEAVEN (MC)

Asher is a stand up comic, writer and actor working in Australia and the UK. Physically gifted and mentally unhinged this post-modern ponce is a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Over the last few years Asher has become one of the most awarded comedians in Australia with his blend of physical comedy, social satire and stand up.

Asher is currently touring his latest show ‘Matador’ in Australia and New Zealand, dates and venues can be found on the Gigs page. ‘Matador’ see’s Asher staring down the subject of racism as a middle class white guy. Cerebral and challenging, inspiring and idiosyncratic, mind-opening and mind-bending, Asher tackles an important subject with wit, wisdom and an intriguing tale of how he got lost in the Thai jungle in nothing but his Speedos. Expect socially responsible comedy and cock jokes.
