KATHY HINCH BAND

Kathy Hinch Band was created in May of 2010, when Melbourne Singer/Songwriter Kathy Hinch was asked to put on a support show for good friends and major influences, The Little Stevies. Calling upon fellow students at The Victorian College of the Arts, Kathy set out to create a band that satisfied the soulful alter-ego of her jazz roots, that combined creative storytelling with musical substance. Described as neo-soul infused pop, KHB has unique flavour and vibe, drawing musical inspiration from styles as varied as Aussie folk, to Old school soul, to the current Afro – American neo-soul and RnB artists of today.

Exploding on to the stage at the renowned Esplanade Hotel in St. Kilda to rave reviews, The Kathy Hinch Band began their musical debut with a bang, The band has since played at venues such as The Evelyn, Spensers Live, The Empress (Supporting Bobby Flynn), The Wesley Anne, Penny Black and recently did an August residency (Sunday sessions in August) at St. Kilda’s Veludo Bar among others, pleasing crowds of very diverse musical tastes.

Having just recorded a debut EP with Jason Heerah of Electric Empire, due for release in late 2011, KHB are fast becoming an up and coming force in the Melbourne Live music Scene.

THAT GOLD STREET SOUND

That Gold Street Sound is a Motown Funk, Rock and Soul band from Melbourne who will make you shake your tail feather. It is ‘Devil’s Music’ with heavenly vocals that will make you wanna dance, and put you in the mood for romance.

This is Funk, but not the type of Funk where songs and chorus’ take a back seat. It is Motown with a modern twist.

It is old fashioned Soul with the influence of Rock and Roll. It is the most fun you can have with your pant’s on…until you dance your pants off!

A vibrant, explosive new sound has been brewing amongst the Melbourne music scene.

Juicy soul based compositions with a deep funk vibe, bass-heavy hip-hop grooves, tasty jazz infused horn hooks layered with the honey-smoke laced vocals of front woman Katt Beames and delivered with an attitude that says

“Goddamn! I do what I want & I’m gonna have a nice good time!”

Kattimoni was formed through an evolution of previous project ‘Katt Beames and the Soular Sky.’ Having released an EP, a full length studio album ‘Elixir’ and touring nationally together, appearing at National festivals inc. Port Fairy Folk Festival, St Kilda Festival, Festival of the Sea & Kingston Festival, founding members decided it was time to move in a new direction. Building on existing chemistry, Kattimoni are simmering on a rich texture of sound & have developed a distinctive unique soul flavour of their own.

DJ MZRIZK

MzRizk has been DJ'ing in and around Melbourne for over 5 years. Recently returning from the international soul summit in Atlanta, MzRizk has a new collection of funk, soul and neo soul that she is ready to share.

Even though she is mostly known for Hip Hop sets, MzRizk is a music lover and loves spinning Funk, Disco, Soul, House and Neo-Soul and anything else that she believes is brilliant music. Her collection of 45s keeps growing and she is on a mission to find those rare boogie and funk tracks that will tear up the dance floor.

MIKE GURRIERI

Mike Gurrieri brings his swingin' genre-bending DJ antics to Red Bennies every Saturday night from midnight. Expect to go everywhere from swing jazz, funk, soul, hip hop & everything else in-between. A true party set like no other!
