B&B Shuffle presents: The Jitterbug Club
THE JITTERBUG CLUB
The Jitterbug Club looks and feels like Harlem 1933.
But on closer inspection one will find that its grime and grit has a slightly different flavor.
It not only swings like the prohibition era, but it pops and locks like New York hip hop.
It bumps and grinds like Burlesque Hour.
It's as streetwise as a present day Sydney speakeasy.
Featuring The Jitterbeetles, The Jitterbug Club's in house chorus line,
we return to the tradition of an in house cast of performers night in and night out.
There will also be a selection of guest vocalists and featured dancers.
Contemporary music and contemporary performance, blurring the aesthetic between 1930's and 2011.
An evolution from the usual format we see these days where a series of self contained acts are showcased together.
The Jitterbug Club is a place where music and performance overlap. One tight, cohesive, interactive & seamless performance from start to finish.
You will enter a club that will take you out of your everyday reality and to another time and place that exists only in limbo somewhere between the past and the future, the now, the then and the darkest jook joint of your mind.
Refinement & Elegance, Rogue & Excess, Hedonistic Decadence.
For Dandies and Dames, Pimps and Pachucos, Divas and Dolls.
The High brow and the hard boiled. Dress to the nines or scram kiddo!
Based in Melbourne, burlesque performer, vintage costumer and all around femme fatale, Frankie Valentine, sets old time glamour on fire with a signature sensuality that has venues all over Melbourne smoldering. Frankie perfects the classic art of the strip tease with a personal and contemporary approach to burlesque, which has seen her gracing stages around the country with her innovative character based routines. Hailing from a fashion background, Frankie hand-sews all her costumes and extraordinary corsets. Her love of vaudeville, theatre and creative costuming all lend to the extraordinary visual quality of her shows; every conceptual performance displaying her love for exquisite staging. A Frankie Valentine show can take you to a boudoir in bohemian Paris where Ella Fitzgerald plays on the gramophone, to a gin -filled tryst on a hot New Orleans night in the prohibition era, to the lamenting soundtrack of dirty bayou blues. Wild, inspired and criminally seductive, the stunning Frankie Valentine is here to stay.
