Helping out those affected by the QLD floods, check.
Okay, we’ve got a pretty exceptional show.
Well what are you waiting for?
You need, simply must, make your way down to Circus Flood Aid at Red Bennies on Saturday 12 February from 7.30pm till late. The finest local circus and carnie folk, plus an extraordinary Melbourne band (we can’t say who, but they won’t disappoint), collide for a grand night of supreme spectacle where there’ll be more cool circus and music than you can shake a stick at!!!!
Circus Flood Aid is the brainchild of Luth Wolf and Hemlock Mejarne, two active members of the circus community and is one of a series of flood relief circus fundraising events they are organising around Australia in the coming weeks with assistance from Australian Circus & Physical Theatre Association (ACAPTA). ACAPTA is the peak body for circus in Australia and has provided support to make these events happen.
When Wolf and Mejarne heard about the many communities that have been affected by the floods they jumped to task to do something about it. Their love of circus sees them spend their time traveling around Australia - performing, advocating for circus, teaching circus and breaking world records and that’s all usually before morning tea! This time they have put their passions into rallying together the circus community to contribute their talents and skills to the flood relief effort.
In addition to Circus Flood Aid happening in Melbourne, planning is underway for events in Tasmania at the Tasmanian Circus Festival, in Sydney at Legs on the Wall and in Adelaide at The Bally.
We all did so much to help when the Tsunami struck overseas - now we need to show that same good will at home. - Luth Wolf
More details about events happening outside Melbourne will be available shortly on ACAPTA’s website - www.acapta.org.au.
All proceeds raised are going to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
You can donate directly to the Premier’s Disaster relief Appeal on the QLD government website, http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html.
