Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes

Clairy Browne and the Bangin’ Rackettes could make a blind man stare, a deaf man dance and all the single ladies shake it with the sounds of hard hitting Northern Soul, jump blues, devestating doo-wop, ska and feverish gospel straight out of New Orleans via a backyard operation in Malvern.
Since their debut show at Sweet Jelly Roll, Clairy Browne and the Bangin Rackettes have been tearing down the house at venues all over, including the Forum Theatre for the Melbourne International Arts Festival, touring with the Big Day Out, Golden Plains, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and juke joint monthly BAMA-LAMA. The band have just recorded their debut EP with award-winning producer Steve Schram and have recently completed a national tour with The Cat Empire.
Drawing influence from Etta James, Tina Turner, The Shirelles and Sister Rosetta Tharpe; Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes set their own scene - sweaty, gritty dancehall 1964, big make-up and even bigger hair, late night dirty dancing, making out in the car park, cigarettes hidden in beehives, sinful shake n’ grind, high gloves and tight skirts, shark skins, slick backs and wild wild women.
