Emerald Follies
Riding high on the success of The Burlesque Ball 2010, Jac Bowie introduced Australia to the grittier side of Burlesque, by bringing out acclaimed performers Julie Atlas Muz and Peekaboo Pointe. The scene in New York is full of performers pushing the boundaries between burlesque, striptease, humour, performance art, contemporary dance, incredible circus skills and art. It's a scene flourishing, with performers constantly creating thought provocking pieces and taking risks.
Emerald Follies is all about this scene. It's all about the grit, passion, and fast paced underground New York burlesque scene.
Set to be a monthly affair at new Melbourne venue Red Bennies, in Chapel Street, Prahan, Emerald Follies will feature a roster of all female burlesque talent, bumping and grinding out different themes each month. It's an opportunity to see your favourite performers, and some emerging ones, constantly pushing out new material, and with minimal rules set upon them, it won't be an evening for the fainthearted - expect the unexpected.
With upcoming themes ranging from "Iconic Movie Moments" to "Beauty Queen Crime Scene" to "70's Porn" Emerald Follies gives the audiences and performers fresh ideas and hilarious takes on the theme at hand.
