Jack Rabbit Slims - Volatile Ram + The Neighbourhood Youth
A momentous night. Exams are finished (or at least should be unless you're unlucky enough to be one of the last), and whilst we don't want to subscribe to the same sort of end of exams parties it was important that we program something amazing.
So two bands phenominal bands AND BURLESQUE!
Volatile Ram
As the name would suggest this is a musical outfit that is not only animalistic in their belief that people can live and breath music but they are pure raw awesome. The members are comprised of some of the seminal influencers of Melbourne’s music scene from rock to techno, to electro. The four piece, are all of session musician skill and comprised of T-Rek, Davarj, Honeysmack and Ehsan. Their shows have been described as something that you can’t click on and see on the internet but have to come and experience.
Volatile Ram are an instrumental mix of psychedelic electronic kraut rock…now what does that actually mean? It means they sound pretty fucking good live. Jack Rabbit Slims and Red Bennies are not only proud to present them for your aural (listening) pleasure but also privileged enough to have them play such an intimate show.
They get on stage at 10:45 so make sure that you’re in the venue, you’ve had a few drinks to get you in the mood to jump around and then get loose!
The Neighbourhood Youth
Are one of the fast up and comers that have been touring around town lately. Having performed as a h
eadline at their own shows and support for a range of really great talent both local and interstate we were really pleased to get them to play South East Side.
It seems that four is the major number for bands with John Philip, Jesse Dimond, Sam Nathan and Liam Jenkins taking the stage. The style, melodies, chords and all in all songs of Neighbourhood Youth are something to behold and something that is worth coming down early and checking out!
Even if you have other plans at less or more musically minded nights you are able to pop down even for $4 pizza, cheap drink specials and to check out these young guns in what is sure to be a favourite at Jack Rabbit Slims!
Luke McD
A name that is not only synonymous with good music but also good nights out. Whether its behind the decks of the bar a club with Luke McD in it is sure to be one whether the good times are heard and flowing. The man can play anything and to anyone, he’s that good that he consistently headlines and features at some of the best nights out and festivals around the country.
It is a rare occasion for Luke to bring out his trumpet but Red Bennies and Jack Rabbit Slims is one of those rare places that calls for just such a weapon of choice. So whether or not bands are your thing Luke McD is sure to bring you onto the dance floor for one amazing night out.
Jack Rabbit Slims Burlesque!
It’s not quite the strippers and it’s not quite just a dance…it is however a combination of the two. The seductive sultry styles of the ladies that love to dance are by way of sheer hypnotic power sure to captivate and amaze even the most timid of onlookers. Their costumes are praise worthy and their bodies worth praising. Jack Rabbit Slims is about bringing you those things that you would normally have trouble finding on a Thursday night. So make sure that you don’t miss either show, because we’ve booked in two.
Jack Rabbit Slims Residetns!
After the shows, and after Luke McD, we have our wonderful residents making sure that none of the party mood that was created is wasted. So stick around till close, get one of the many amazingly priced drinks at the bar and have a dance!
Jesse Young and Sam Devitt are curating the music for your aural pleasure, enjoy!
