Jack Rabbit Slims - Poco La Pax + Kolors
This will be the last Jack Rabbit Slims for the year. We have loaded into it more live music than we have in the past and invited back some favourites. Inviting Kolors, two lovely ladies that without a doubt, will blow your minds!
POCO LA PAX
Poco la Pax is a Melbourne electro-pop dance outfit that combines the best of live instrumentation and electronic sampling through dynamic live performances. The irony in the name Poco la Pax, Latin for ‘a little peace’, is that there is nothing tranquil about this band.
With a firm feeling that good sound can’t get too big, Poco la Pax scrambles together anything they love into their sound – sassy latin horns with electronic samples, punchy fat beats fleshed out with wandering indie guitar and jazz melodies.
Poco la Pax throws in the best of big live performance with electronic sampling, but just as important as the show is consistent, impressive song-writing to keep the kids singing along.
One knits while the other goes to more parties in a week than you would in a month. They like cupcakes, chocolate, (chocolate cupcakes), golden oldies and red wine. They seem to like the same things we (and you do) so we booked them! These girls (Fionna and Jess, Jess and Fionna) whatever way you look at it, are going to impress you with their skills and knowledge of the 90’s and 00’s.
Rich, imaginative and honest is the descriptors, cool calm and collected is there execution of their melodies that are so lovely to the ears. Coming from our most favourite source of Melbournian musical talents, the VCA Canary are a group of 5 boys that are just amazing to listen to. They launched their album on the 13th of November to much acclaim. It’s called ‘Dead Universe’ and it is truly fantastic.
This girl, wow, this girl. Now last time she played she blew us away. Her rendition of ‘Dirty Rap Song by Afroman’ was something else. We had to, had to get her in again to play before the end of the year and we are glad that we were able to secure a show. Her voice is captivating & simply her presence is terrific. Have a listen to her we promise that she will make you smile.
