Red Bennies Est 2010 - Soft Launch Party
COOKIN' ON 3 BURNERS & KYLIE AULDIST
Cookin' On 3 Burners are Australia's hardest hitting Hammond Organ Trio - joining the dots between Deep Funk, Raw Soul, Organ Jazz & Boogaloo. Since forming in 2000 the 3-piece have forged a well-earned reputation on the international Deep Funk & Soul scene with a series of acclaimed releases aimed squarely at the dancefloor and the Sunday afternoon barbeque!
Jake Mason (Hammond Organ), Lance Ferguson (Guitar) and Ivan Khatchoyan (Drums) formed Cookin' On 3 Burners inspired by the Hammond Soul-Jazz masters such as Jimmy Smith, Reuben Wilson and Jimmy McGriff. The Cookin' sound is drenched in the bluesy, soulful influence of the late 60's/early 70's output of labels such as Prestige, Bluenote & Groove Merchant.
Cookin' On 3 Burners made their home at Adrian Gibson's esteemed U.K label Freestyle Records in 2007 and have released four 7" 45's, two 12" singles and two full length albums: "Baked Broiled & Fried" & the brand new 'Soul Messin' LP. They have also had their music released on labels including Knowfoowl (AUS), Bamboo Shack (AUS), Wagram (FRANCE), SPV (GERMANY) and Nascante (U.K)
Kylie Auldist has performed with Funk, Soul and Hip Hop oufits including Polyester, Mega Bias and of course The Bamboos. Kylie has appeared on recordings and as a backing vocalist for Australian music legends such as Renee Geyer and Jimmy Barnes, playing many high profile gigs both in Australia and overseas. Kylie Auldist delivers emotionally charged powerful vocals with a versatility of style. In 2007 The Bamboos took Kylie to Europe and the UK where she met and signed with UK record company Tru Thoughts.
Her first solo album 'Just Say' was co-written and produced by The Bamboos and Lanu main-man Lance Ferguson. 'Just Say' was released in May 2008 to critical acclaim, receiving accolades from the likes of Mark Lamarr (BBC), Bobbito Garcia & Andy Smith.
Flevans
As one of the original and earliest signings to the highly successful Brighton label Tru Thoughts, Flevans' early work was steeped in the essence of sampling, taking inspiration from blues, soul, funk, big band and classical genres (to name but a few), Flevans quickly became well known for his ability to piece together these different genres, adding a contemporary twist to create music which always had an undeniable hook and eye for the dancefloor
Throughout his production career, Flevans has also built a reputation as a great DJ. In the last few years alone, Flevans has played extensively across the UK & Europe, including the MTV Canne Film Festival party and a headlining slot at the Big Chill Festival, as well as DJ'ing further afield, including Friends and Family in Tokyo, and Turntables in New York. Gleefully mixing up raw funk, hip hop, electronica, breaks and disco, as well as always dropping a few exclusives, Flevans always seems to know the right tunes to play.
