In conjunction with Shimmy Shake, Red Bennies & The Melbourne Fringe Festival we are delighted to bring you a sizzling one off event! Starring some of Melbourne's sauciest and sassiest burlesque artists! Shimmy Shake promises to be a late show of naughty proportions and raunchy antics!
Prepare for a night of high energy, floor stomping, tassel twirling dance-floor action when Melbourne swing legends Frankie Wants Out are joined by the co-producers of the Australian Burlesque Festival Dolores Daiquiri & Sapphira to present – Shimmy Shake Up Late.
We would be delighted if you and your friends dressed up in a RED outfit to show us how hot you are! The hottest red outfit wins a prize, a tasty red drink and 'on stage' smooch from one of the artists!
FEATURING PERFORMANCES FROM:

FRANKIE WANTS OUT is a nine piece original swing band from Melbourne. They first formed as a neo swing band, playing fast jazz and jump blues as well as taking influence from the music of the New York dance halls of the 20’s and 30’s. However over the last four years they have incorporated other styles into their live show, such as latin, motown, rock and funk while still paying homage to their swing beginning, subsequently touring with US swing legends, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy twice. Plus the list goes on…
Regardless of the style, Frankie Wants Out are still guaranteed to make you jump and jive all the way across the dance floor regardless of whether you’re in a rocking pub or a classy cocktail lounge.
DOLORES DAIQUIRI
Dolores Daiquiri has been at the forefront of the burlesque revival in Australia for about 10 years and has been captivating audiences with her glamorous brand of ‘tease’ since then. Dolores started her career as co-founder and group member of Melbourne’s first burlesque troupe and in 2009 went solo.
Her acts are not only seductive, classic, traditional and glamorous they are dripping with vintage flair and sophist ic ation of a high standard. Audiences can be assured that a performance by Dolores is both spectacular and enter taining!
Dolores prides herself in designing quality burlesque acts which she has performed in a myriad of showcases and high-end events over the years.
SAPPHIRA
Sapphira is a Melbournian burlesque showgirl, pianist, singer/songwriter, belly dancer and teacher with international acclaim.
The highlights of Sapphira’s performance career include producing the Australian Burlesque Festival, Channel 10’s coverage of her burlesque classes, a Nuts TV episode on Shimmy Shake, singing at Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Burning Man Festival and opening for legendary DJ Dimitri from Paris.
GYPSY WOOD

After working in cabaret, burlesque and contemporary dance for over a decade Gypsy Wood has emerged as a highly original performer with a penchant for the comic, clever, shocking and divine. Gypsy aims to challenge stereotypes within popular culture, politics and modern sexuality.
BELLA DE JAC
The international tease, jazz baby and hoochie coocher is shimmy shaking her way across Australia. With a fetish for astonishing costumes, real old fashioned bump-and-grind and a little dark humour just for the hell of it, you don't want to miss this little thrill ride.
ALEXANDRA CHARLES
Being a professional dancer and showgirl for 9 years, Alexandra has performed all over the world for clients such as Hennessy Cognac, Dunhill, Goldwell, Rosemount Fashion Week and was also a featured performer in the musical 'Las Vegas Confidential'. Alexandra has recently debuted on the burlesque stage with great success.
BIJOU BELLE
Bijou Belle is an accomplished dancer and cabaret performer with over 8 years dance teaching and performing experience. She has been honing her burlesque style on stages for the last 2 years, as a resident at Melbourne's Burlesque Bar, Nu Cabaret and Sousol Cabaret. Bijou best describes her style as slick, sexy and comical!
SKOPALOVA
National Rhythmic Gymnastics Medalist, Skopalova performs shows combining Rhythmic Gymnastics, Dance & Contortion. From the stage to corporate events and fashion shows, Skopalova amazes audiences with her flexibility, skill and charm!
CHRIS MORANT

Chris has been performing since 1994, from solo to up to massive cast for huge and intimate events.
Prepare to be amazed with magic, mesmerized by fire, and captivated by circus stunts.

MARK WINMILL aka The Boylesque Boywonder!

With more sparkle than Kylie, and costumes that could shame Lady Gaga, “second generation carni” Mark Winmill is rapidly making a name for himself worldwide.
Mark Winmill is an iconic Australian circus, burlesque and visual theatre performer with a serious panache for aerials, drag, hula-hoops, physical theatre and spectacle with a fresh, raw and savvy edge. Born from the gene pool of old school circus and vaudeville Mark has followed in the foot steps of his acrobat clown and rizzly flyer father. Mark Winmill cleverly marries and collides the different worlds of performance in a robust explosion on stage.
Mark Winmill is the 2011 reigning King of Burlesque as crowned in Las Vegas at the annual Burlesque Hall of Fame, which sees the cream of the international burlesque crop collide in a weekend of celebrating the tradition, the fore-mothers, pageantry and the art of tease that is Burlesque.
Mark is also a co-creator, performer and collaborator in the all male, all vaudeville, all trash, circus-burlesque production BRIEFS which has just completed it’s first international tour to five star reviews and much acclaim. Briefs has previously toured extensively throughout Australia having performed seasons to packed out audiences and spreading the raucous laughter to theatres and festivals including the Sydney Opera House, The Famous Spiegeltent – Melbourne Arts Centre, Adelaide Fringe and Feast Festivals, Woodford Folk Festival, Brisbane Festival, Gold Coast Fringe, commissioned work by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Mark also keeps himself diverse and busy as a company member of renowned Brisbane based performance ensemble Polytoxic, who are a company in residence at the Brisbane Powerhouse. They are studio artists with Queensland Theatre Company who have an impressive performance history of independent and professional work spanning international and national coverage.
Mark has featured in various high profile affairs including BBC Television, featured in various productions and cabarets including Comic Strip, Late nite lounge, Feasting Flesh, Dance Trax at the Sydney Opera House, Gangsters Ball, Australian Burlesque Festival and La Clique.
Mark is set to tour with the infamous Dita Von Tease in 2012.
