South Side Show presents ADAM HALL & THE VELVET PLAYBOYS
Since launching early 2010 the ‘South Side Show’ has quickly become Melbourne’s undisputed weekly home of vaudeville, circus and cabaret.
On stage, dance floor or hanging from the ceiling, every Saturday night this lush art deco inspired venue comes to life with the crème of local and international guest performers alongside a rambunctious crowd comprised of circus kids, carney folk and vaudevillians.
With a reputation as a world class cocktail bar as well as one of the city’s most alternative club nights, the South Side Show parties till the wee hours each Saturday to the sounds of soul, funk, jazz, hiphop and cabaret show tunes served up DJs Mike Gurrieri, Knave Knixx & Edd Fisher.
ADAM HALL & THE VELVET PLAYBOYS (WA)
Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys are a six piece Perth band dedicated to the performance of exciting live shows.
The music captures a mood reminiscent of the Rat Pack or Louis Prima in Las Vegas in the 50s – swingin' jazz, rockin’ rhythm and blues and good ol' boogie woogie.
Their repotoire also features more contemporary music in a vein similar to artists as diverse as James Brown, Ray Charles & Harry Connick Jr.
Their debut album "I've Got News For You" was released in June 2007.
WITH CIRCUS PERFORMANCES FROM:
Hula Hoop virtuosa Judith Lanigan interprets the ballet divertissement originally choreographed by Fokine for Anna Pavlova. Judith Lanigan studied hula hoops at the Moscow State Circus School and is the award winning author of the 'A True History of the Hula Hoop' published by Picador in 2009. The Dying Swan has been described as " an excellent adaptation of a classical theme with a highly intelligent wink from Down Under (Tete a Tete Festival Germany) and “A brilliant, essentially comic routine that dissolves into a blur of hoops and flying feathers.” (The Age )
THE STRAWBERRY SIREN
Miss Strawberry Siren has been dazzling Burlesque audiences both in Australia and overseas for the last 4 years. No stranger to the stage, Miss Strawberry has been performing since the tender age of 12 (yes.... that’s 16 years under lights!) "The Strawberry Siren Stands out with her good looks and peculiar but hypnotic brand of Burlesque tease.” Australian Stage.
