Melbourne based band The Skylines have been gettin’

down since early 2009, formed by a group of like-minded

musicians with a shared vision of spreading the word of

the funk to the masses. The 6 piece act combines groove,

soulful vocals full of manly grunt, sweet sax solos, and

full blooded melodic hooks that inevitably result in both

boogie down fever and slow jam heaven.

With an emphasis always on quality musicianship, The

Skylines are charting their way through Melbourne’s

underground funk scene with an eye for the overground.

A strong fanbase delivered courtesy of killer live shows

has seen the band rock venues as diverse as The Evelyn,

Tony Starr’s Kitten Club, Veludo, Spensers Live, Horse

Bazaar, The Purple Emerald, and The Belgian Beer

Garden.

Their debut EP/mini-album, Right Track, is a perfect

showcase of all that is The Skylines: A mixture of rootsy,

rollickin’ 70s styled funk, soulful bass heavy ballads,

heavy, ball-tearing funk, and more; all done with a

swagger, tone and tempo that keeps one foot back in the

day, and another firmly planted in the now. The group’s

musical armory has expanded since their beginnings to

take in reggae, roots and soul, all laced with a catchy,

pop sensibility.
