Carlie Huberman - Expose Q & A
By Crimson Cookie
CC: For those of you involved in more shows then one; does it ever get
complicated being closely linked to two different groups?
CH: Sometimes it is difficult to balance training sessions when working with more then one group but you just have to learn to have excellent time management!
CC: Did you go to an Arts school of some kind or develop your skills through a hobby that turned into a career? What was that like? Discuss/explain.
CH: I never went to an Arts specific school but I have been training with different community companies my enter life. Whether I was training for acting, dance, or circus all of the different training that I have had has helped me to become a performer. All of this started as a hobby and through all my different training it has slowly taken over my life!
CC: Did you always aspire to be artists/performers? If not, how have things changed for you?
CH: When I was younger I wanted to perform but I always thought that I needed to have a back up plan. I went to university and did all of the academic classes that my parents wanted me to do and in the end I am still performing!
CC: How many hours a day do you train/practice? How do you balance this with other life commitments?
CH: I train at least 3 hours a day sometimes more depending on the day. I balance this by remembering that even though I need to train to succeed I also need to have another aspect of life. This allows me to enjoy performing instead of begrudging it.
CC: I am sure you enjoy performing all your acts, but which is a favourite of yours?
CH: My favorite act to perform is adagio or partnered acrobatics!
CC: After all these years performing do you ever/still get nervous?
CH: I like to think of nerves as excitement!! It helps to focus my nerves and helps with the performance!
CC: For those who may be struggling in the world of arts performance, what are you suggestions for them?
CH: Just keep trying and never forget to have confidence in yourself!
CC: Anything else you might like to add?
CH: Always remember to have fun!!
