Malia Walsh (Circus Trick Tease) Q&A
Circus Trick Tease
Q: You recently received your first Edinburgh Fringe Festival Review. How does that feel?
A: Our first review was a 4 star, i was so bloody excited i couldn't sit down for the rest of the day. I still get jittery when i think about the tour.
Q: Your show is about a show that comes undone. Is it based on past personal experiences?
A: Of course. We've all worked in the circus for a number of years, funny things happen under the big top. On stage everything looks together, but back stage is chaos... it's hilarious back there.
Q: Last year you performed at the WA Circus Festival. How did it go down? Could you notice a difference between Perth audiences and Melbourne audiences?
A: WA Circus Festival was full of carnies(circus folk)... not a real "WA audience" but they were so much fun. Can you imagine, carnies watching carnies... bloody awesome. Melbourne audiences are so different depending on where you perform. Red Bennies audiences (of course), are the best of the best!
Q: Does your audience always eat stale popcorn with warm soft drink at your shows?
A: We encourage our audience to drink hard liquor, they tend to enjoy it more when they are drunk.
Q: What was it like performing at Fed Square on New Years Eve 2008?
A: It was a little stressful for me as i curated the performance stage... such a buzz when it was all over though.
Q: Will you be performing at Melbourne Fringe again this year?
possibly... are you offering us some funding? ;)
A: Shannon – you’ve performed in countless circuses. Which was your favourite and why?
Q: Circus Trick Tease of course!!! Its fun, it's cheeky and it's got the best tricks.
A: Malia – did you really catch a helicopter to a gig once? Was the limo booked out?....
Q: Tee hee, it is true. How else do you get to the Whitsundays?
A: How i got the gig is a much better story... but i'll save that for another time.
Q: Farhad – what was the highlight of your time with Silver’s Circus?
A: I really enjoyed doing my sword balancing act.
